Warburton St Jude’s Charity Event

written by REO Speedwagon

Hi friends, I have definitely keeping busy during this break in the REO tour. Last weekend I was in Palm Springs, CA for the Warburton St Jude’s charity event. The concert featured Alice Cooper, Mike Mills (REM), Ed Rowland (Collective Soul), our buddy Derek St Holmes, and great friends and tour mates Jason Scheff and Mike Reno. Jason, Mike and Catherine Reno, and our host Patrick Warburton (Seinfeld, Rules of Engagement) joined me for “Roll with the Changes”. The event raised over 4.8 million dollars to help the children at St Jude’s Hospital in Memphis. We had a blast, and extra special thanks to the generous folks in attendance and all of the event organizers.

This weekend I jet off to Vegas for a show with Vince Gill (Eagles), Billy Gibbons (ZZ Top), and my musical hero, Stephen Stills. We will all be backed by a killer band consisting of drummer Kenny Aronoff and guitarists Kenny Wayne Shepherd and Mike Wanchic (John Mellencamp), among other awesome players. The show is free, you just have to go online to get the free tickets https://www.eventbrite.com/e/free-jim-irsay-collection-exhibit-concert-las-vegas-tickets-513223604617

I am scheduled to fly to Vegas on the same airplane as Stephen Stills, and am looking forward/feeling a little nervous, as I am such a fan when it comes to Stephen and CSN. You may remember that Stills and I wrote the song “Haven’t We Lost Enough (I Still Love You)”, which appeared on REO’s, Building the Bridge album, as well as Crosby Stills and Nash’s, Live It Up and their four disc set, CSN. It will be a bit chilly outside for the concert, but I will still be doing everything in my power to stay cool around Stephen! There is also a plan brewing for us all to pay tribute to the late great David Crosby, and it looks like I may be singing “Almost Cut My Hair” Hope to see you in downtown Las Vegas this Saturday, as this promises to be a very special night.

REO heads out on leg three of our 2023 tour on March 15 in Sioux Falls, SD and wraps in Mt Pleasant, MI on March 25. Check out all the tour dates and purchase tickets at reospeedwagon.com. We are rocking hard, and having more fun than human beings are meant to have, every night on stage. So come on out and feel the joy!
