Charlie Hoffman Foundation Benefit

written by REO Speedwagon

Hi friends, so you may have heard that Dave and I will be joining our summer-tour-mates, Train, for a special performance this Wednesday, January 31 on Jimmy Kimmel Live. The following day we will share the tiny rectangular stage at the Whiskey A Go-Go with Train. If I’m not mistaken, the last time REO played the Whiskey was in 1973! So this will be a blast!

Meanwhile, this past weekend was an acoustic performance in Solano Beach, CA, to benefit the Charley Hoffman Foundation. Charley is one of the more colorful of the top golf pros on the PGA Tour, and his foundation’s mission statement is: Supporting Children’s Charities in San Diego, and Beyond. Lisa’s and my old friend, Judge Dan Albregts is on the board of directors, and he connected us with Charley’s event. We would like to thank again the two amazing REO Speedwagon fans, whose combined generosity of $23,500.00 won them each an autographed acoustic guitar.

The following day, my golf group included Judge Dan and Nick Allen, the young shortstop for the Oakland As. I was the designated putter, and my teammates were generous of spirit, as my lack of precision on the greens may or may not have cost them the tournament prize. But we had a lot of laughs and raised a ton of money to help underprivileged children.
