RIP Don Everly

Hi friends, I am saddened at the news of Don Everly’s passing. Don is a perfect example of an artist whose music transcended his tortured soul, and lifted all of us whose imaginations were captured by the beauty of Everly Brothers heavenly harmonies. I listened to those early records, “Bye Bye Love” and “Wake Up Little Susie”, and although I was too young to know what those songs were about, I just loved the sound of Don and Phil Everly’s voices. I did understand “All I Have To Do Is Dream”, and although it was not conscious, I was surely influenced by it when I wrote my “In My Dreams”. People say there will never be another Everly Brothers, and while that is true, I have a feeling there are some young vocal groups who are streaming those classic Everly’s songs, soaking up their influence, and writing songs and making records as we speak. In the meantime, I’m gonna go download “All I Have To Do Is Dream” right now. My condolences to Don’s surviving family and friends. … kc
