REO Speedwagon In Johnson City, Tennessee

Hi friends, so this photo is from Monday night’s attendance record breaking concert at the Freedom Hall Civic Center in Johnson City, Tennessee. Pretty awesome to sell out an arena on a Monday night…although when we play a show, every night is Saturday night!

Johnson City is the site of one of the crazier nights, and most brazen escape in REO history. I recount the whole sordid tale in my upcoming memoir, (I am very excited to have gotten my first actual literary deadline!), but suffice to say, the story involves pellet gunplay, barricaded hotel room doors, and a helicopter landing in the hotel parking lot! Or as we like to say, another average day on the road with REO Speedwagon!

Our friends, the amazing Levon opened for us on this little run of dates. This young band out of Nashville has ridiculous vocal harmonies, beautiful songs, and Michael, Ryan, and Jake are three of the nicest/coolest people you could ever meet. If you are coming to the shows in Dubuque, IA or Rochester,MN be sure and get there in time to catch Levon. You will not regret it…I promise.

The other night in Pikeville, KY we had Kip Winger as our special guest. Kip sang his ass off, as always. He played solo acoustic, but told me he is back doing shows with Winger, and loving it. I wish those guys the best, and hope to catch them on tour. Kip is a great dude.

And we are back, full strength and all cylinders firing, and rocking hard as ever. Hope to see you this week, and at our upcoming “evening with” shows through the Spring. We are in the process of putting together the production for the summer Unzoomed Tour, with Styx and Loverboy. That tour will be something special, as all three bands are good buddies, and seasoned pros. Lots of good energy in 2022.
