MusiCares, Grammy Weekend, & 2020 Touring Season

written by REO Speedwagon

Hi Friends, this year’s MusiCares Person of the Year event was amazing. In 2007 the MusiCares charity provided care for my son Paris. A few years later, I appeared on the tv show “Don’t Forget The Lyrics”, and donated my winnings to MusiCares. It brought me great joy to present them with a check for $350,000.00. In 2019, MusiCares stepped up to help my great friend and guitar tech, Steven “Smooth” Summers. Smooth is in need of a lung transplant, and as such has had to stay off the road. Needless to say I am a big supporter of this organization which is dedicated to helping musicians and crew guys in need of medical and/or emotional support.

Meanwhile the event on Grammy weekend was a blast. It was old home week, as so many great friends were gathered to honor Aerosmith as Person of the Year. Here is the gang from our table: Rick Springfield, Kari Hagar, Gavin DeGraw, Sammy Hagar (The Red Rocker), myself and my wife Lisa. The performances of Aerosmith hits by various artists, including Sammy and Gavin were awesome. I was proud and humbled to be part of this event. Special thanks to Oliver Richter and Frank Otto from the Xounts Speaker company for picking up the check.

First show of the 2020 touring season is tomorrow night in Rohnert Park, CA at the Graton Resort and Casino. Then on to the Saban Theatre in Los Angeles on Tuesday and Wednesday, with special guests Sir, Please, featuring Josh and Shane Cronin. See you there…much love, kc
