KC Blog Update 6/27 : The Steel Woods
Hi friends, We met The Steel Woods three years ago when they opened for us on July 4, 2016. That night I went out on the stage left wing to give a listen, and I was blown away by this band. I was actually late getting dressed for our show, as I couldn’t stop listening to them. They have done a number of shows with us, and they just keep getting better. Last night they were better than ever in front of a sold out arena in Casper, Wyoming.
We opened for Aerosmith in the mid-seventies, and Steven Tyler and Joe Perry came into our dressing room the first night of the tour. They gave us full sound and lights, and invited us to join their after-show meal any time. Their thing was to respect opening acts. Aerosmith believed that when their openers were strong, it simply raised the bar, and challenged them to rock even harder…and they did!
We feel the same way, and always have. The Steel Woods played an amazing set last night, and it brought out the best in us, as we played an inspired set for an awesome full house in Casper last night. The Steel Woods will be with us again at the historic Ryman Auditorium in Nashville on July 29. I can’t wait for that show.
