Blog Update (8/18/17)

written by REO Speedwagon

Hi friends, today is a proud day for everyone in the REO Speedwagon Family. We were invited to the rooftop of the new offices of Epic/Sony/Legacy Records, in the shadow of the Empire State Building, to be presented with the prestigious Diamond Award, which celebrates our Hi Infidelity album passing the ten million mark in domestic sales. We are so fortunate in so many ways, and this achievement really drives home the point.
The band gets all the praise, but today the accolades were shared by everyone from our manager Tommy Consolo who has been with us since 1975, Hi Infidelity co-producer Kevin Beamish who flew up from Nashville, label head Adam Block, just to mention a few of the deserving in attendance. Alan Gratzer was on hand via FaceTime from his home in Northern California. We all wish Gary Richrath could have been with us; he was surely there in spirit. None of this would have been possible without Gary. Dave and Bryan may not have been there when we recorded Hi Infidelity, but their part in promoting the music and keeping it current is undeniable. They joined Bruce, Neal, and me in accepting the award this afternoon. Of course the true unsung heroes are our families, as we could never do what we do without the support of our amazing wives and children.
The bottom line is that in order to sell ten million copies of the Hi Infidelity album, millions of people deserve our thanks for allowing us to continue to do what we love to do. So today is a day we feel extremely grateful and honored. We feel proud and humble. We feel love. We look forward to rocking with all we’ve got every night in concert, and showing our awesome fans that we appreciate their loyal support…kc
